Small Business Saturday

Mural DedicationMain Street Mount Vernon and the Mount Vernon small business community are proud to take part in Small Business Saturday, aka “Shop Small Saturday,” on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. MSMV invites you to shop until you drop in your own community where you’ll avoid the crowds of Black Friday while investing in your local economy. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday seeks to create love and support for local businesses and to promote vibrant, diverse communities. Show appreciation on this day by shopping small!

Christmas Walk/Parade

It’s the most wonderful time of the year in Mount Vernon!

Each year, on the Sunday following Thanksgiving, people of all ages line the streets of downtown Mount Vernon for the Christmas Parade and Walk, from 1-5 p.m. Organized by the Mount Vernon News, the parade features a new theme each year, from the Victorian era to classic nursery rhymes, and more. The Christmas Walk features train and carousel rides for kids, family photos with Santa, and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts can be found in downtown businesses. The celebration wraps up with a Christmas Carol Sing at Public Square. Several activities benefit the Food For The Hungry drive.

Annual Membership Meeting

Annual MeetingThe Annual Membership Meeting is a great opportunity for the local businesses and organization to discuss key issues within the Central Business District, distribute important information regarding Main Street Mount Vernon, and vote on new board members and bylaw changes, if needed. In doing this, we maintain transparency by keeping members informed on the status of Downtown Mount Vernon. An Annual Meeting of the Members is required to take place each year according to the bylaws of Main Street Mount Vernon. The bylaws outlines when the annual meeting will take place and what is required of the annual meeting.
